Breaking news-

An observant reader pointed out an error on my part. After careful recalculation, I'm going to admit a mistake was made and that, though he is a terrible dresser, Toby Keith is not the worst.

This guy is. Troy Gentry.

And his terrible outfits are made so much worse by the fact that his partner, Eddie Montgomery (together, they are Montgomery Gentry) is a pretty snazzy dresser. They are the perfect example of "wear this, not that."

Edited to add: (I really need to stop looking at this dude). According to Wikipedia this guy is about 45 years old. Can someone call his people and get him scheduled for an age appropriateness lecture, STAT!

CMA Awards

I believe that the decline of country music into pop crap goes hand in hand with the decline of western fashion. Pop country stars wear ugly clothes, so people trying to emulate those stars buy ugly clothes. In that spirit, we're going to point fingers at the worst dressed pop country stars out there. Admittedly, I don't really follow pop country music, so my opinions might be a bit off. Let me know if I've missed the mark on any of these people.

First up: Winner of the worst dressed male in country music... ... ... Toby Keith.

The bandana under baseball hat combo (and is that a members only jacket?) along with his habitual wearing of affliction-esque pseudo western shirts made ol' Toby Keith the run away winner this year.

Runner up: Kenny Chesney for his gratuitous sleeveless tee shirt wearing.

Tuesday Reality check

Just a pair of boots for you today. These are very modern, but not superduper douchey. They have trendy elements (studs, distressed finish, swirls, etc.) but those elements were combined in a manner that kept classic styling in mind and the result is a trendy boot that doesn't look like total garbage.

Made by Corral, available through PFI Western.

Mondays make me cross.

On our last Mondays make me cross post, I showed you some fabulous household goods from National Roper Supply. Today we're gonna look at some boots they carry, made by Gypsy Soule. I can't see one being able to rope cows very well while wearing these things, but since I've never roped before, I'll leave that up to you.

These things are all up there price wise too. I think the cheapest pair was $170. I don't have much else to say about these. I feel a little sick.

Indecision

These Tin Haul boots are weird. The inner ska kid in me wants to like them. They're checkerboard slip on vans turned into cowboy boots. The combination is certainly interesting. I wouldn't wear them, hate the cut of them, but if I saw someone walking down the street wearing them, I'd probably say "nice boots."

These ones are even weirder. They're also made by Tin Haul, and available from National Roper Supply. Also boots I would never wear, but they do make me smile.
These ones are pretty cool.
I was kinda diggin' Tin Haul boots (I'd never heard of them before)... but then.
Oh shit. Can someone come drive me to the doctor? My eyeballs are bleeding. Ouch.

More National Roper Supply trash!

Today we'll look at some more horribly overpriced ugly shit from Nation Roper Supply. Yeah, we're hitting them hard lately, but so far every single thing I've seen on their website has been horrible. If we find redeeming qualities over there, we'll let you know. Until then, we're going to continue thinking they're completely crazy.

Evidence of insanity, exhibit A. Cargo Studded Black Pants.
Price: $99.99

Exhibit B. "Vintage Chain."
Price: 36.99

Exhibit C. Lime Stretch Bandeau with Crystal Nailheads. (Available in other colors too!)
Price: 19.99
Exhibit D. Ladies Tin Haul Face Print Tee.
Price: $12.99 (finally, a sane price).

Exhibit E. Bead Necklace.
Price: $299.99 (say whaaaaaat?!)

Good retailer: AJ's Western Wear

AJ's Western Wear. "Because Authenticity Never Loses Its Attraction"- damn right!

They get a little douchey in the tee shirt collections, but I'm willing to overlook that. They have a good selection of modern western shirts and lots of sweet retro ones too. Most of their western jewelry is western (a few painful options there, but not many). All around, a pretty good store. Go check 'em out. And if you like them on Facebook, you get 10% off an order.

Wear this, not that.

Looking at some girls shirts today.

Here's a cute little floral/horseshoe print girls shirt from Cruel Girl. It's got some glitter screen printing but isn't tacky or ugly. It's available from Tack Room Inc.

And compared to this thing from PFI Western, it looks downright presidential. Or vogue-worthy. Or something. Folks, don't let your little girls wear things like this (and again, there is no reason at all for this to be sold as a 'Kids western shirt')

Tuesday reality check

Well, heck. I just put these up a few days ago. Now I own 'em. Yeehaw! I gotta tell you- these Rocketbusters feel just about perfect on my feet. They're killer. Happy Birthday to me!
