Wear this, not that.

Awhile ago we dubbed Troy Gentry the worst dressed guy in "country" music. Today we're following that up with a photo I found when digging for that post. If you recall, his buddy Eddie Montgomery is a sharp dressed man, so today's wear this, not that, is the two of them together.

We have Eddie rocking what's gotta be a Manuel coat. And Troy wearing... god only knows. It's freakin' hideous though! The 70's lapeled shirt under a crushed velvet jacket could work under some circumstances (like at a costume party), but when paired with the string necklace that looks so tight that a properly placed flick to this guys forehead could send his head flying off, along with whatever huge pendant is hanging from it- it sends the whole thing straight to superdoucheville. And that haircut is just atrocious. Please folks, take your pop country fashion cues from the man on the left.

Next up, the worst dressed woman in country music. This was a lot harder, because it was really hard to find photos of any of these gals wearing anything even remotely western. I found two.

There's Taylor Swift wearing my grandmother's curtains with cowboy boots...

Carrie Underwood wearing my grandmother's scarf with cowboy boots...

So, which do you think is worse? And why don't female country stars wear western wear?

An observant reader pointed out an error on my part. After careful recalculation, I'm going to admit a mistake was made and that, though he is a terrible dresser, Toby Keith is not the worst.

This guy is. Troy Gentry.

And his terrible outfits are made so much worse by the fact that his partner, Eddie Montgomery (together, they are Montgomery Gentry) is a pretty snazzy dresser. They are the perfect example of "wear this, not that."

Edited to add: (I really need to stop looking at this dude). According to Wikipedia this guy is about 45 years old. Can someone call his people and get him scheduled for an age appropriateness lecture, STAT!

I believe that the decline of country music into pop crap goes hand in hand with the decline of western fashion. Pop country stars wear ugly clothes, so people trying to emulate those stars buy ugly clothes. In that spirit, we're going to point fingers at the worst dressed pop country stars out there. Admittedly, I don't really follow pop country music, so my opinions might be a bit off. Let me know if I've missed the mark on any of these people.

First up: Winner of the worst dressed male in country music... ... ... Toby Keith.

The bandana under baseball hat combo (and is that a members only jacket?) along with his habitual wearing of affliction-esque pseudo western shirts made ol' Toby Keith the run away winner this year.

Runner up: Kenny Chesney for his gratuitous sleeveless tee shirt wearing.
